Tenzor Sailing Academy in Dubna – new spot on the sailing map!
In 2022 Tenzor Consulting Group founded Tenzor Sailing Club, the first base of which was the Pestovsky reservoir. And now we are proud to present the opening of a new location in Dubna!
In May, the guys who are preparing to give their heart to yachting will be able to tie the first sea knots. They are expected by a fleet of Optimist boats and sailing boards, experienced teachers and picturesque bays of the Moscow Sea. Dubna was not chosen by chance. Tenzor Sailing Academy revives the Soviet Yacht Club to popularize sailing education in Russia. Many developed schools in Europe and the world introduce children to sailing from primary school, introducing classes on a regular basis in the school schedule. In Russia, the popularity of sailing has increased significantly over the past 3-5 years, but the infrastructure and availability of schools remain at a low level.
The aim of the Academy is to create a modern network of children’s and youth sailing academies in Russia and abroad. TSA is organized according to European standards and has the most modern infrastructure for theoretical classes, general physical training and practice on the water.
“Sailing has a long history in Dubna. Many adults from Dubna attended the sailing section in their childhood and fell in love with water, wind, sails. And now a new sailing school is opening and this is a new opportunity for all young Dubna residents to come to the yacht club and discover all the romance of sailing. I am very glad that there are enthusiasts who are ready to develop this sport and teach our children,” Tamonov Andrey Vladimirovich, Head of the JINR Social Infrastructure Department.
The creation and development of a sailing school in Dubna is also a step towards achieving another, larger goal of the international sailing academy Tenzor Sailing Academy.
“Dubna is a significant location in every sense, the hometown of the founder and ideologist of Tenzor Sailing Club Andrey Pushkin. We are going beyond Moscow, moving on to other cities. Dubna is important not only for the development of children’s sailing, but also for adults. We will nurture the younger generation of yachtsmen, hold professional regattas, create significant international projects,” Ekaterina Tseplyaeva, CEO of Tenzor Sailing Club.
In Europe, yachting is a sport for pleasure. You do it because you like to feel the salt spray on yourself, fight the wind, watch the waves dissect… In the post-Soviet space, yachting is often perceived purely as an Olympic sport, where the main emphasis is on performance. Faster, higher, stronger. TSA offers young students a unique and fun immersion in sailing, which is based on the programs of the All-Russian Sailing Federation and combined with a European approach. It is important to teach a child not only the ability to sail, but also to cultivate self-confidence and the ability to act in difficult conditions. Getting used to water and safety rules begins at the age of 5-6. A program of classes in mini-groups has been assembled for kids in a playful way so that they learn how to handle boats, gradually learn the sailing language and feel more confident on a yacht.
Elder children learn to operate a boat, carefully study safety rules, get acquainted with the basics of first aid, determine shoals and restricted areas, wind directions and strength. All this is in the form of a game. Both girls and boys like to study. Some people believe that yachting is not a woman’s business, because it requires special strength and endurance. But these are trainable skills. Yachting is a beautiful attractive sport for girls, where they can show their talents in tactics. This is a kind of chess on the water, only without stopping.
“When 70 yachts are aiming for the goal, they all need to be carefully bypassed, take into account the wind and the speed of movement of rivals, understand who to bypass on the left, who on the right, what techniques to use. Sailing perfectly trains the skill of decision-making and responsibility. Children begin to see that their outcome depends on their decisions. Yes, the weather may affect him, but the task of an athlete is to learn how to cope with it. It’s just like in life. Growing up, the guys go out into the world, realizing that to achieve goals you need to use different tools, that there are no ready-made templates. This distinguishes them favorably from many peers,” — Maria Alexandrovna Frolova, TSA senior coach.
For 24 years of yachting training, Maria Alexandrovna has released members of the Olympic team and masters of sports of international class in sailing from under her wing. The coaching staff under her leadership will train the guys in the new location. The infrastructure of the academy is built taking into account the maximum comfort of students and parents. The TSA Academy will have locker rooms, a classroom for training, a cafe. The company invests not only in the development of the school itself, but also in the development of sailing education in general, in the development of the city. Builds up the coastal zone. Being engaged in TSA, the guys receive not only premium training, but also the most modern fleet and participation in international programs (camps, training, regattas). The guys get the experience of teamwork and sports rivalry. Often, during yachting training, friendly alliances are formed between both children and adults.
One of the largest partners is Yacht Club de Monaco. In 2023, it is planned to expand the partner network and develop further integrations in Turkey, the UAE and other promising sailing locations.
International partnership opens up an opportunity for the development of the region as a whole. Sailing is an effective cross—marketing tool in sports management. Sails and boats are a notable platform for advertising, they open up huge opportunities for brand collaboration.
